About Me

My name is Sophia and I am the owner and teacher at Adagio piano studio. I am a registered teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music and I earned the RCM National Gold medal in Piano Pedagogy in 2025 while also being a Dean’s List scholar at the University of Toronto. As you’ve probably guessed, I am passionate about teaching! I’ve been playing piano for over 15 years and have completed all 10 levels of piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music in the First Class Honours rank.

Upon the completion of my practical/theory/harmony/history exams, I began teaching at Greater Toronto Music School and the Little Chopin Academy with excellent student and staff feedback. Eventually, I decided to continue sharing my skills and love for music with others through my own studio. I have worked with students ranging from ages 3 to 75, from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.

Each student is a valuable individual with their own learning style, artistic taste and personality, which is why I create engaging lessons tailored to each student’s needs. That being said, although I commit to offering the most educational and productive lessons, my main goal is to make piano playing a joy for all my students. I am looking forward to meeting you!

I believe that teachers are lifelong learners, which is why I never cease to enrich my knowledge by taking advice from podcasts and webinars of world-famous professionals such as Joshua Wright, Nicola Cantan, Irina Gorin, and others. Taking inspiration from these various backgrounds and teaching styles, I am able to blend fun and technicality so my students can find great joy in learning the piano without missing out on building proper technique!
